What's My Favourite F word?!!

When I created the business name MVP4, the focus was on the letter “P”—representing People, Product, Partner, and Profit. Over the years, I’ve also come up with a series of words beginning with “F” that have special meaning to me, both personally and professionally.

Let me start with my personal “F” words—just two of them.

My Favourite Personal “F” Words A few months ago, I attended a celebration of life for my aunt. While speaking with a minister, I asked her, “Do you know what my favourite F word is?” She immediately stepped back with a surprised and cautious look—clearly unsure where this was going! I quickly clarified: “My favourite F words are Family and Friends.”

She sighed in relief, then laughed and said, “I’m going to use that sometime!”

My Favourite Business “F” Words A few years ago, on my first day leading a company in Canada, I met with the executive team. I had been told in advance that there were communication challenges within the group, and part of my role was to help transform that negativity into teamwork and trust.

At the end of my introductory talk, I shared what I called my Four F Words, explaining that if we could excel at each one, we’d become a team that truly enjoyed working together.

FUN Wake up each morning excited to go to work. Bring a smile, bring energy—enjoy what you do – have fun!

FAMILY Let’s treat each other like family. After all, we often spend more time with our work family than with our real one during the week.

FOCUS Let’s stay aligned and focused on what it takes to be the best sales team in the marketplace.

FINANCIAL When we achieve our goals and drive company success, we also create personal financial growth and reward for ourselves.

And of course, I told everyone in the room: “If you don’t believe in my Four F Words… I have another word for you!”
